June 9, 1995--UJF--11 Beth Sholom Home observes National Nursing Home week By Diana Weinstein The residents of' Beth Sbolom Home observed Nation- al Nursing Home Week from May 14-20, with activities designed to include family and staff. The observance began with an Open House on Moth- er's Day, complete with a Sun- day program featuring Judith Peele singing and playing the piano. In addition, the Aivities Staff took Polaroid pictures of family members and their mothers, and presented them in a photo holder with "Mother's Day 1995" embossed. The "Por- trait Studio" was aided by BSH volunteer Carol Stein Shlyen, who was able to have the photo holders donated to the Home. Corsages were also given to each female resident. "A Staff Appreciation Ice Cream Social," sponsored by the Home's Resident Council, was the highlight of the second day of" National Nursing Home Week. Residents and staff from two shifts were able to pause and appreciate the kindness of the Council as they visited with residents.
